Experiment 4: Paella

I love paella! Satisfies my taste buds and is very filling. So this is my own Paella version.

You need:
  • chicken (I prefer using thigh fillet for this)
  • cubed pork kasim
  • shrimps
  • ham cut into square pieces
  • chorizo de bilbao sliced into rounds
  • calamansi juice
  • diced bell pepper
  • paella mix
  • tomato sauce
  • rice
  • oil
  • water
  • garlic
  • onion
  • salt & pepper

Cook this way:
  1. Marinate the pork and chicken in the calamansi juice, overnight.
  2. Cook the shrimp in a pan with some water.
  3. Peel the shrimps and on a separate container, marinate it in calamansi juice a well.
  4. After marinating the pork and chicken, fry them for a while or until a little brown.
  5. On a separate pan, saute the onion.
  6. Add the tomato sauce, ham, chorizo, and bell pepper. Let it cook for 10-15 mins.
  7. Strain the sauce from the paella filling and set aside.
  8. On a wok, I used this since I don't have a paellera on hand, heat some oil and saute the garlic.
  9. Add the rice, paella mix, and water.
  10. Stir the rice to let it cook evenly. Add the paella sauce and water every now and then.
  11. Once the rice is cooked, add the paella filling.
  12. Top with the shrimps and serve!

You should saute the shrimps with the garlic and cook the rice in it. :)

And try using fish next time, along with (fresh) crabs. Cook them with the rice, so that you get the flavors out of the fish and crabs. :D
